DEOMALI : TREKKING AND CAMPING

INTRODUCTION

Deomali Hill is located in the Pottangi Block of Koraput District, Odisha, approximately 67 km away from the district headquarters. It proudly holds the distinction of being the highest peak in Odisha, standing majestically at an elevation of 1672 meters (5482 feet) above sea level.

Nestled amidst lush green forests abundant with diverse flora and fauna, Deomali Hill offers a serene and captivating environment. The hill is known for its panoramic views and tranquil ambiance, attracting visitors seeking respite from urban life and a glimpse into pristine natural landscapes.

While Deomali Hill is a year-round destination, it arguably showcases its most enchanting beauty during the rainy season. During this time, the valleys surrounding the hill are blanketed by thick layers of clouds, creating a surreal and mystical atmosphere that enhances the hill's allure.

In Deomali, there are three famous attractions that captivate visitors. From my experience best time to go in evening and follow the below mentioned activity.

1. Trekking and Sunset Viewing:-  

The trek to Deomali Hill's summit, spanning 1.5 kilometers from its base, is a journey through scenic trails. As hikers ascend, they are rewarded with panoramic vistas unfolding around them. Upon reaching the summit, visitors are greeted by a mesmerizing sunset that paints the sky in hues of orange and pink. The view from this vantage point is unparalleled, offering a serene and awe-inspiring experience as the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm glowover the surrounding landscape.

2. NIGHT CAMPING:- 

After witnessing the captivating sunset, Deomali Hill offers the perfect setting for a night of camping under the starry sky. The tranquil atmosphere envelops campers, providing a peaceful retreat amidst nature's embrace. The clear night sky above reveals a blanket of twinkling stars, creating a magical ambiance. Campfires crackle softly, offering warmth and camaraderie as travelers share stories under the canopy of stars. For camping either you can bring your own camping kit or you can avail services from locals.Local providers offer tents, sleeping bags, and other necessary gear, ensuring a hassle-free camping experience. These services often include amenities such as campfire setups, meals, and guidance from experienced camp organizers. It takes approximately 1000 INR charges.

3.MORNING SUNRISE:-            

As dawn breaks over Deomali Hill, early risers are treated to a spectacular sunrise that bathes the landscape in golden light. The morning mist slowly dissipates, unveiling the lush greenery and rolling hills stretching into the horizon. The tranquil silence is broken only by the sounds of birds chirping and the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. OTHER SPORTS ACTIVITY

HOW TO REACH

Nearest Railway station is Koraput, from there several buses are available for simliguda. Unfortunately there are no any public transport available directly to deomali hill. Therefore, visitors often opt for private vehicles such as taxis or hired cars to cover the remaining distance to the hilltop

Accommodation options at Deomali Hill itself are limited to night camping experiences. For more traditional stays, travelers can find hotels and guesthouses in Similiguda, the nearest city
