Karnala bird sanctuary is lies in the hills of Western Sahyadri range, situated in Mumbai - Goa National Highway around 50 KM from Mumbai and 13 KM from Panvel which the nearest Railway station.A well Known Ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali was the active visitor of this forest for Bird watching .
The best timing to visit this place is in rainy season or on Saturday-Sunday because in weekday less people are there.
Along with this bird sanctuary there is a Historic Karnala fort which added the attraction for nature lover and trekkers. The fort is at a distance of around 3 KM from entrance. The route of fort is quite adventurous with water falls and trails on the way. Also there are many view point from where the forest look very beautiful
To reach the Karnala Bird sanctuary take local up to Panvel station and the bus from Panvel station. There are many local buses available for Pen and Alibaug. But the best way to take own vehicle because its only 13 KM from Panvel.
Timing - 0700 Hrs. to 1530 Hrs.
Entry Fee- 65
This is the good place for trekking and during monsoon it became full greenery. Currently there was only three birds were available but many of birds were spotted at Sanctuary.
